Sprinkler system calculators
Four quick answers for planning a lawn sprinkler system. Each one runs on the same engine as the Topoform app, with the Hunter MP Rotator catalog.
-
How many sprinklers do I need?
Enter your lawn's width and length and get the number of sprinkler heads, their arcs, the zones and the flow each zone needs — worked out by the same engine as the Topoform app.
-
Sprinkler spacing calculator
Pick a Hunter MP Rotator nozzle and a throw radius and get the head-to-head spacing, the flow per arc and, if you like, a full layout for your lawn size.
-
How many sprinkler zones do I need?
Enter your measured water supply and the sprinklers you plan to use. Get how many heads fit one zone, how many zones you need and the flow of each zone.
-
Bucket test: how much water does my tap deliver?
Time how long your tap takes to fill a bucket and get your supply flow in GPM and litres per minute, plus how many sprinkler heads of each arc fit one zone.
-
How to design a sprinkler system, step by step
Plan a lawn sprinkler system in seven steps: measure the yard, test your water supply, choose the heads, space them head to head, split them into zones, lay out the pipes and set up the timer.
Where to start
If you have not measured your water supply yet, start with the bucket test: your flow decides how many zones you need. Then size the lawn with the sprinkler count, or check spacing and zones for the heads you already have in mind. When the numbers make sense, draw your actual yard in the Topoform app — it places the heads on your real lawn shape, routes the pipes and builds the parts list.
